Making Time is a workshop-based project which explores the 'folk concept' of time as communicated through visual contemporary art. (Suitable for ages 16+).

Making Time: A Creative Workshop

What is time? Does time really pass? Is there something special about the present? Can we use our own intuition to allow us to understand what time is?

Our intuitions, or our ‘gut feelings’, may hold a clue about what time is. These intuitions form what we call the 'folk concept' of time. Making Time is an interesting and unique project that uses visual contemporary art to explore these intuitions or 'folk concept' of time.

This half-day workshop has been created for those with no experience in philosophy. Our aim is to introduce you to philosophical basics where together we will explore and discuss the fascinating concept of time. We will then all create a small piece of art which communicates our own intuitions of time.

These pieces of artwork will form a collective body of work of how ‘we’ view time. With your permission, your work will be featured on the project website and may be selected for publication at a later date. (Please note, if you decide that you do not want the piece you create to be entered into the archive, this choice will be respected).
