About
Sherborne Girls’ much awaited 5 yearly art exhibition is taking place on 7-12 March at the Menier Gallery. The ‘making our mark’ exhibition will feature a selection of the best painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography, textiles and product design produced by the school’s students over the past five years. The display, which will fill both floors of this wonderful gallery space, will include works which reflect a wide range of processes, styles and ideas.
Miss Jenny Newman (Head of Art & Design at Sherborne Girls since 1994) comments, “It will be wonderful to see so many of our former students, many of whom took their art and design beyond school and to view familiar pieces of artwork in such an exciting space.”
Sherborne Girls is an independent day and boarding school for girls aged 11 to 18. Founded in 1899, it has been at the forefront of girls’ education in Britain for over 100 years. The school provides a rich environment for the development of well-educated, confident and caring young women who are committed to making significant and positive contributions to the world in which they live.
Sherborne Girls believes in academic development continuing outside of the classroom, and every girl is encouraged to immerse herself in the broad range of activities on offer. The school is particularly proud of its impressive Art department and is excited to have this opportunity to showcase some of the outstanding work produced by its students.
