Exhibition of project uniting architecture students with the skilled makers of The Cass.

The "Making Furniture" exhibition in the Bank Gallery showcases work resulting from a collaborative project between first year BA (Hons) Architecture students and makers from across The Cass. Expert craftspeople from disciplines including Jewellery and Silversmithing, Guitar Making, Textiles, Ceramics, Leatherwork and Upholstery worked closely with the architecture students to realise innovative street furniture projects within a tight time frame.

Talking about the project, now in its second year, a student representative said “Learning through making is our tradition, and our strength. To find our identity as designers and practitioners through the process of crafting makes us stand out from others, in terms of passion, engagement and skill. We as students and tutors benefit every day from the dedicated support from our masterful makers. The work in this exhibition is dedicated to them.”

You can see a film of last year’s making project on YouTube.
