The wonderful black and white line illustrations found in old tool catalogues will be used as inspiration to create alternative three-dimensional ‘illustrations’ of tools using wire as a medium to ‘draw’ with.

About

The focus of the workshop will be to investigate how a wire line can be used to make a three-dimensional object (or ‘tool’). Simple binding techniques to create structure will be taught using pliers. There will be tips on how to bring an inital 2-D drawing into three dimensions and advice on the use of different gauges of iron binding wire and how they can create different qualities of line.

Cathy Miles will be in residence in the Gallery, Friday 20 – Sat 21 May, 11am – 6pm as part of Shed Space. Drop by to watch her work, and ask any questions.
