The drawing of a nude body, which became popular in the last decade of the XVIII Century, turned into a special genre of fine art with its own aesthetics. The exhibition will contain over 200 works taken from the XVIIII and XX Century collection. The works are done with various techniques, such as watercolour, pastel, graphite pencil, charcoal and sanguine.
The exhibition will embrace the chronological evolution of the genre to celebrate the most striking episodes in its development: the difference between Moscow and St Petersburg schools, the particularities of the work of Russian artists in Parisian atelier of the early XX Century and the existence of this genre as an art, which is seemingly far removed from the avant-garde movement.
