Following on from Manchester, Cardiff and Jealous East in London, Magda Archer’s ‘Well Listen! Who Cares?’ exhibition is opening its bright doors again at Jealous North.
About
Jealous are excited to be holding her highly successful solo show in their space in Crouch End, London, which will display her portfolio of original paintings and print works, including signature pieces and an array of newly finished editions.
Arst and print maker, Magda creates kitsch and colourful works inspired by her exploration and revisualisation of vintage and popular paraphernalia in western culture. Through Jealous, who frequently produce her limited edition prints in their Print Studio, Magda is back in the creative heart of East London with an assault on the peepers via saccharine-soaked, candy-coloured scenarios, statements & speechbubble philosophy which draws upon vintage packaging, retro graphics and a lemon sharp sweetness that belies the bitter truth underneath.
‘Some of my [work] titles might appear flippant but if anyone wants to know, they never are. Life can be a strain at times but many things that are tough or a struggle, well, you can get some sort of a laugh out of them. I've been informed that my print Sick of this Shit is going down nicely with cancer patients for example, it's the one print my own best friend - fighting cancer herself - asked me for, and she never asked for freebies. She said it helped.’
