About

The Swedenborg Society is proud to present its latest Artist in Residence, the photographer Madeleine Waller. For her residency at Swedenborg House, Waller took photographic portraits of members and trustees of the Society, staff and other individuals connected with this historic but little known institution on the edge of Bloomsbury, London. Waller completes her residency on 22 October 2011, with the publication of her artist residency book and with the opening of her exhibition in Swedenborg House, held in conjunction with the Bloomsbury Festival 2011. Waller's photographic portraits will be placed around the building and also digitally projected in Swedenborg Hall; the Society will also launch Waller's artist residency publication, PORTRAITS, a limited edition print of work completed by Waller during her year-long residency at Swedenborg House. The publication also features an Introduction and Q & A with the artist by writer and Guardian journalist Sean O'Hagan. REFRESHMENTS WILL ALSO BE SERVED. 6pm - 9 pm. Free Admission. RSVP to nora@swedenborg.org.uk. http://www.swedenborg.org.uk/events Madeleine Waller Originally from Australia, Madeleine Waller has lived and worked in London since 1987. Waller was shortlisted for the Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize 2010; her work Wet and Dry, Laura was one of 60 portraits chosen from over 6,000 entries. Her Portraits of Poets series was selected for the National Portrait Gallery's Photographic Portrait Exhibition in 2006 and more recently as part of its Faces of Poetry special display in 2009; Waller's exhibition at the London Fields Lido also attracted much critical praise. For her Artist Residency at Swedenborg House, Madeleine photographed members and associates of the Society, around Swedenborg House and in their own homes. http://www.madeleinewaller.com/
