Made in Wood is a collaborative exhibition and research event between staff and Architecture students from Nottingham Trent University and Bergen Academy of Art and Design, Norway (KHiB).

About

Made in Wood is a collaborative exhibition and research event between staff and Architecture students from Nottingham Trent University and Bergen Academy of Art and Design, Norway (KHiB). This exhibition has formed out of discussions with KHiB in relation to the annual Bergen International Wood Festival

From Thursday 12 March until Friday 27 March, the Gallery will be transformed into a living workshop, studio, discussion room and site-specific exhibition space. On the first day the students will be presented with a supply of reclaimed and disused wood; day-by-day the group will work together to explore ideas and focus on the use of the wood, taking into account its constructive, structural and tactile qualities.

Open to the public throughout, visitors will be able to watch the exhibition take form and evolve. Through this practice-based research activity structures, objects, interventions, drawings, texts, documentation and artefacts will be produced and presented across the period of the exhibition. Find out more…

INSTAGRAM TAKEOVER:
For the duration of the Made in Wood exhibition we will be handing over our Instagram account to the students from Bergen and NTU, for them to create a visual diary of their experience.

You’ll be able to follow their story on the Bonington Gallery Instagram pages... in the meantime, take a look at an independent blog from the Bergen International Wood Festival 2014.
