What happens when machines construct their own AI narratives? The works in this exhibition see AIs transform portraits, produce animations, make drawings and have conversations using words and images. No humans necessary.
About
Curious about our unknown futures, we as humans have written countless stories imagining the time when machines form part of our society. Recent advances in computational power, availability of data and improved artificial intelligence (AI) techniques mean that reality draws ever closer to the world of science fiction. Machines are increasingly able to construct their own narratives with less and less help from their human collaborators. The works in this exhibition see AIs transform portraits, produce animations, make drawings and have conversations using words and images.Machine Fictions features works by the artists Jake Elwes, Mario Klingemann, Anna Ridler and Harm van den Dorpel. The exhibition was curated by Luba Elliott as part of the Leverhulme Centre for the Future of Intelligence Annual Conference at Jesus College, Cambridge.
