Eija and Annimari
The shared feature in our works are the layers of the time and memories. Unexpectedly, we have a same kind of visual thinking - figurative will be abstract and material will be immaterial. Together these two art forms, textile and photography, create one collective story. An exciting tension how pictures changed to material structures and the other way around.
 
Eija Korpi
The shape, both dynamic and static, is the baseline for my works. The colours between white and black express or frame a place, a feeling or a memory. These may occur in the present moment or far in the past, even simultaneously. The different eras live together, telling the same story of myself, my nationality, and the universality of the human being. We all are built up with layers. My goal in this artwork has been to make a material process as immaterial as possible.
 
Annimari Taivalsaari
The theme of my pictures is the time and its cyclicity. The past and current time are visible at the same time in the layers of the photos, and the layers change their form all the time. Surface, depth, figurative, abstract, or open and closed – all these parts discuss together. In attendance are this moment and the passing of all. My focus is the interaction between the human being and the nature, how these two will be merged into a single universe, until it will diverge and be born again.

Die Gemeinsamkeit in unseren Werken sind die Schichten der Zeit und der Erinnerung. Unerwartet haben wir dieselbe Art visuell zu denken – figurativ wird abstrakt und materiell wird zu immateriell. Zusammen bilden diese beiden Kunstformen, Gewebe und Fotografie, eine gemeinsame Geschichte. Es ist aufregend, wie Bilder zu materiellen Strukturen werden und umgekehrt.

Sowohl die dynamische als auch die statische Form sind die Basis meiner Werke. Die Farben zwischen Weiß und Schwarz beschreiben oder umrahmen ein einen Ort, ein Gefühl oder eine Erinnerung. Diese können im Jetzt oder weit zurück liegen oder sogar im selben Moment. Die verschiedenen Epochen existieren zusammen, erzählen dieselbe Geschichte von mir, meiner Nationalität und der Universalität des Menschen. Wir alle bestehen aus Schichten. Mit meinem Werk wollte ich einen materiellen Prozess so immateriell wie möglich gestalten.

Das Motiv meiner Bilder ist die Zeit und ihre Zyklizität. Die Vergangenheit und das Jetzt sind gleichzeitig sichtbar in den stetig ihre Form ändernden Ebenen der Fotos. Oberfläche, Tiefe, figurativ, abstrakt oder offen und geschlossen – all diese Komponenten kommunizieren mit einander. Dabei anwesend sind dieser Moment und das Sterben von allem. Mein Fokus liegt auf der Interaktion zwischen Mensch und Natur, wie beide in einem einzelnen Universum verschmelzen, bis es auseinanderfällt und neu geboren wird.
