For its London opening, Tornabuoni Art Gallery inaugurates a series of retrospectives on major postwar Italian artists with an exhibition dedicated to Lucio Fontana.
About
With an exceptional selection of more than sixty works, the exhibition illustrates the creative journey of the founders of Spatialism from 1949 to 1968, by displaying all the different typologies of “Concetto spaziale:” the stones, chalks, anilines, oils, grooves, as well as “baroques” and small theatres. The exhibition was imagined and assembled by Enrico Crispolti. In the exhibition catalog, the Italian critic analyses in a detailed manner the relationships between the work of the founder of Spatialism and the cultural scene of the French capital during the 1930s and 1960s.
