About

Lucca Drake Aparicio, known also by his artist moniker SulkingDrake, was a local student and abstract gestural expressionist who passed away this year. An astonishingly prolific artist for his age, Lucca created multimedia, abstract works using a variety of material, including acrylic, oil and spray paint, watercolor, industrial dyes, resin, pen and ink, and assemblage. His craft extended to poetry and digital creative media, including edited photography, use of text, and mashup film. His work is dominated by studies of composition and color theory.

Lucca was an International Baccalaureate Diploma student and attended Oaks Christian School, Agoura High School, as well as classes at Mission: Renaissance Fine Art and Moorpark College. His work was exhibited mostly in the Conejo Valley and Los Angeles. He was interested in becoming a working artist and curator and for several years worked as an artist assistant to abstract artist Bernard Dunaux. Lucca loved the sciences, animals, music, and surfing.

This exhibit offers family, friends, and the community the opportunity to view Lucca’s work and share memories of the young artist.
