Please join us to toast the official opening of photographer Luca Tamagnini’s new solo exhibition ‘Cyclops’ and preview his latest work.

About

'Cyclops' is the latest project by Italian Photographer Luca Tamagnini, exploring the enduring presence of gigantic rock formations in the face of industrial intrusion along the Italian coastal landscape.

Significantly marking his first solo exhibition in London and coinciding with citywide events such as Photo London and Offprint, the exhibition will display several large-format images capturing the monolithic presence and mythological origins of the early Mediterranean sea.

Exhibition on view, by appointment, from 12th–20th May

Opening reception Thursday 16th May 6pm–9pm

RSVP is essential

About the photographer

Luca Tamagnini was born in 1962 in Mogadishu, Somalia, and lives and works in Rome, Italy. Since the 1990s he has dedicated much of his work to capturing the Italian coastal landscape, building on his professional experience in architectural, cultural heritage, and travel photography.

A prolific publisher of books, he has used the medium to draw attention to the safeguarding of coastlines from continued commercial exploitation and environmental erosion. These include a series of four volumes in collaboration with Folco Quilici titled “The Seas of Italy” (Olmo Ed. 1991), a series of 14 volumes on Italian protected seas in collaboration with the Italian Ministry of the Environment (Photoatlante, 2002-2010), and “Sardinia Coastal Landscape“ (Photoatlante, 2010).

His work has been exhibited at the 2011 Venice Biennale within the Italian Pavilion. He was also the recipient of the 2013 Mare Nostrum Awards, which was awarded to him by Mimmo Jodice. His most recent publication “Italia Paesaggio Costiero” was published in 2018 and features a preface by Italian art historian and photographer Italo Zannier (Photoatlante, 2018).
