About

San Mei Gallery is pleased to present Case 0034: The Gargantuan Shoe, a performance by Luca Bosani.

On 7 November, Luca Bosani together with two performers will stage a mysterious and playful investigation around a giant, gargantuan, sonic shoe. Questioning the boundaries between reality and fiction, exploring identity as a social and moral construct, Bosani will assume the role of a magic reality investigator, trying to understand how and why a huge black shoe suddenly appeared in the gallery space.

Due to the coronavirus restrictions, the durational performance will unfold continuously over four hours. Viewing slots can be booked every half hour of the performance. Each slot will be strictly limited to maintain social distancing.

From 4-8 November, Bosani’s series of UPOs (Unidentified Performative Objects) will be on display in the gallery alongside the gargantuan shoe.

Luca Bosani’s practice is an ongoing exploration of the fluid and complex nature of identity, via the melting of performance, sculpture, painting and costume design. His Case series started in the summer 2020, at the end of lockdown, when the artist quit his lecturer position at City of Westminster College, London to fully dedicate himself to private investigations of the real. The Gargantuan Shoe is the Case 0034: it will only be shown once, at San Mei Gallery alongside his ongoing series of sculptural objects, also known as UPOs (Unidentified Performative Objects)
