L.S Lowry in Berwick & Northumberland
About
L.S Lowry is one of the UK௿½s best loved artists famous for his industrial scenes of the North of England. It is less well known that he had a great love for the North-East of England and was a regular visitor to Northumberland and Berwick-upon-Tweed from the 1930௿½s onwards.'L.S. Lowry in Berwick & Northumberland' brings a number of these original works of Berwick-upon-Tweed to the town for the first time including works of The Market Place, Dewars Lane, Spittal Sands and a Football on the 'Stanks'. Alongside these are works that capture wider Northumberland and the artists fascination with the sea.
The exhibition includes loans from The Lowry, Salford; The Lowry Estate and Sunderland Museum & Art Gallery and private collections to celebrate Lowry's unique connection to the town of Berwick and the wider North-East.
