New exhibition exploring the relationship between mortality and humanity’s strongest emotions through paintings, neon, drawing, sculptures and prints from the world’s most pioneering artist

Renowned for its love of dark, exploratory and thought-provoking art, Leontia Gallery’s highly anticipated exhibition ‘Love to Death’ certainly lives up to the reputation. The multi-disciplinary collection will explore these subjects through paintings, neon, drawing, sculptures and prints by innovative and original talent from the UK and world wide. 

From the 6th to 29th May visitors to the Leontia Gallery (1 Conduit Street, Angel, N1 98L) will be able to see ground-breaking works from world famous artists, including the critically acclaimed Dina Goldstein.

Her provocative and stimulating sequential narrative ‘In The Dollhouse’ is one of the exhibition’s many highlights. The powerful images challenge the concept that beauty and power equal happiness, and give a whole new meaning to the vows “til death us do part.” The sequential 10-part chronicle follows from the internationally renowned ‘Fallen Princesses’. 

Each artist has been selected for ‘Love to Death’ as they bring something distinctive and unique to the exhibition, with intriguing and insightful explorations of the notions of human emotion and mortality, and the lightness and darkness in each of them.  

Leontia Reilly, owner and curator of Leontia Gallery said: "If there are two subjects that artists, and of course the whole the human race, obsess over it’s love and death. The new exhibition aims to explore the fixation with these themes and the associated ambiguous connotations. Each piece brings something distinctive to the exhibition both in technique and concept.”

Additional highlights from ‘Love to Death’ include:

·      Originally from Amsterdam, Frank E Hollywood creates hyperrealist “vanitas” paintings from scenes he’s curated and photographed. The highly collectable artist has garnered the attention of the art world.

·      London-based Rebecca Stevenson has displayed works alongside some of the worlds most renowned artists. She is best known for her visceral and baroque sculptures in resin and wax.

·      Creating iconic and powerful imagery to represent the natural world, Louise McNaught is an exciting emerging artist. Her pieces are executed with a contemporary potency, whilst retaining a traditional technique.


·      Magnus Gjoen’s thought-provoking pieces examine how to change people’s relationships with and preconceived notions of certain objects; he turns things that are potentially extremely destructive into beautiful yet fragile pieces of art.

·      Using vintage magazines and printed ephemera to create hand-made low fi collages, Joe Webb’s work explores love and longing. One to watch, Joe’s has produced artwork for, amongst others, The Madden Brothers latest album, amongst others

·      Through her neon work Rebecca Mason uses light to convey the darkness within human life, existence and emotion. This is often accompanied by a dry, self-deprecating sense of humour and candid confessions aimed at recognising and accepting our imperfections.

For enthusiasts looking to buy their first piece Leontia Reilly, the founder of Leontia Gallery, will be offering private viewings and consultations to talk through the artwork whilst sharing industry insight on investing in art.
