Love is a Losing Game

I2 Curatorial Platform presents Love is a Losing Game, an online exhibition featured at art-i2.com from February 29 until May 30, featuring works from Brazilian photographers Alziro Barbosa and Laura del Rey.  This is the first exhibition of the kind, collaboration between curators and artists to create a third piece of work to be displayed solely on a web platform, with a multidisciplinary focus.

A four-year marriage of two photographers (Alziro and Laura) which ends, leaving to the collection of memorabilia a set of rather peculiar images: the codes they had to identify who was using the camera shared in their trips. 

These remains, merely technical at first - finger gestures showing the numbers 1 and 2 -, start weighing on them with time, in an attempt to come to terms with the end of the relationship. As if a scrambled puzzle – like memory itself sewing and tearing reminiscences, representing a  search for the subtle ‘whys’ and ‘hows’ which words can’t find. 

The proposition to the spectator is to invade this journey, so intimate yet, simultaneously, so common to everyone, and reconstruct, with the aid of his/her own visual and emotional background, the intricacies of this foggy stretch of road where relationships fade.

The online exhibition also features an interview with the artist, whose work has recently been featured at Galeria Vermelho, São Paulo; Guatephoto, Guatemala and at Les Rencontres Internacionales de La Photographie de Ghar El Mhel, Tunisia .
