Prompted by the juxtaposition of love and work in the William Morris quote: 'Give me love and work, these two only' James was intrigued by the idea of drawing on the idea of Ravilious' High Street to illustrate today's popular sayings on the theme of love using the work of the various trades one might find there, with an added touch of humour.
