The exhibition gathers several oil and spray paintings, possibly abstract landscapes or busy, colourful spaces, as well as a series of collages and mixed media on paper, titled Sound&Vision.
While the artist’s previous show at Espacio Alexandra, 'Fango' [Mud], revolved around the darkness of night, LOVE ABOVE ALL shows a world in broad daylight and full of motion. Nature is, in the most generic sense, a constant object of attention, and particular phenomena also inform Ms Kylander’s work, such as weather processes or the interaction between light and motion on the tree crowns or the surface of the ocean.
Ms Kylander’s work is driven by process, intuition and improvisation, and to her painting is first and foremost an experience – it is the succession of marks and stains, the combination of movements and contrasts that which produces the image – often an instable, open image, and in any case prior to language. ‘I look for an emotional and ample response in the viewer’, an intention that is reflected in the title of the show.
