“As a major storm strikes Texas in September 1900, a new and mysterious televisual device is built and tested…”

About

Following presentations at the Toronto International Film Festival and New York’s Museum of the Moving Image, we are very excited to present the UK premiere of Blake Williams’ visually dazzling experimental 3D feature PROTOTYPE.

“As a major storm strikes Texas in September 1900, a new and mysterious televisual device is built and tested…” Williams’ feature debut is an immersive trip through a science-fiction landscape that takes in the aftermath of the Galveston Hurricane, the auto industry, the beginnings of cinema, and much more in besides. This audacious and unclassifiable work was described by Nick Pinkerton in ArtForum as “an accomplishment on another plane.”

This will be a one-off chance to see PROTOTYPE and will be preceded by two of Williams’ previous 3D shorts, also never before seen in the UK. Red Capriccio (2014) is a found footage film in anaglyph 3D and Something Horizontal (2015) is an abstraction of the physical world in the stereoscopic depths of German Expressionism.
