Working with stained glass, moving image and ambisonic voices, Pinkie Maclure has transformed Glasgow’s CCA gallery into an abandoned chapel, haunted by the ghosts of its lost congregation.
About
Pinkie Maclure is a multi-disciplinary artist working with stained glass and sound. She is intrigued by the cracked narratives of medieval stained glass and the links the medium offers us between past and present.
With dark humour, glowing light boxes and haunting, 3D sound scenography, she laments our disappearing countryside, with its distracted, fragmented communities and celebrates nature’s extraordinary ability to revive abandoned places, with the help of grassroots activism.
“My whole life had been spent waiting for an epiphany, a manifestation of God’s presence, the kind of transcendent, magical experience that lets you see your place in the big picture. And that is what I had with my first compost heap”. Bette Midler
