Lorrice Douglas will hold an open studio at Toynbee Studios, providing an opportunity for the public to see current work in progress and previously unseen images.
Lorrice works across a range of media and her background in sculpture informs her ideas on composition, lighting and physical space. She constructs installations which convey a particular moment in time and her interest in both archive and the âfictive set' brings an ambiguity as to where the work actually exists; a recent drawing entitled Talking by Lightning makes reference to the telephone during the dawn of the electrical age. The works presented at Toynbee Studios will continue from that idea, exploring the tonal qualities of light and shade, luminosity, and colour.
