About
Loren Connors has improvised and composed original guitar music for over four decades and is recognized as an early pioneer of independent music. His work embraces the aesthetics of blues, Irish airs, blues-based rock and other genres while letting go of rigid forms. Connors names abstract artist Mark Rothko as a major influence on his aesthetic. On October 22, he celebrates his 70th birthday with long-time friend Alan Licht and new friend Johnny Young.
Alan Licht’s repertoire of structured improvisation pieces for electric guitar bring together his interests in re-harmonization, process, repetition, and extended duration (Minimalism), as well as the textural vocabularies of rock and noise. He is highly respected for his work with the Blue Humans (Rudolph Grey), Run On and Love Child. He has worked extensively with Lee Ranaldo and other respected musicians.
Johnny Young is a Chicago-born solo guitarist whose mesmerizing and beautiful finger-stylist playing ranges from American country blues to experimental folk. His haunting melodic compositions have been released on Teen River & Voyager Golden, which comments that Young's approach to the guitar “is rich in Fahey-esque technique that lends itself to meditative listening sessions.”
