About
‘Looking on the Bright Side’ reflects the optimism and life force that lies within colour. Annette Zera paints on fabric, paper and canvas layering and placing pieces into abstract designs and landscapes in an attempt to make sense of her world.Private View 5 July
6.00pm – 8.30pm
Open daily 6 – 12 July
9.00am – 5.00pm
Annette Zera has lived and worked in the East End of London for most of her life. She worked for 20 years as a college principal and in that time started painting and making. Annette is an ‘outsider’, an older woman and a feminist.
All her work has been influenced by whole systems thinking. As a manager and then as a facilitator she was driven by how people from different starting points could work together and make the world a better place.
As a maker she is similarly inspired by this approach to life. Annette paints on paper and fabric, absorbed by the delight of colour. She tears, cuts and brings pieces and fragments together – an endless process of searching for intimate connections.
Annette has worked from MotherX studios in Hackney Wick for 5 years and is very pleased to be showing her work at Stour Space.
