Look + Listen Festival: Studies in Contrast
25 Apr 2020
Revelation Gallery
New York, United States
The Look + Listen Festival is dedicated to sparking dialogue between music and visual art through its annual free programming of contemporary music by today’s musical trailblazers in galleries and cultural centers throughout New York City.
The 2020 Spring Festival performances (April 23, Pioneer Works; April 25, Revelation Gallery; May 2, The Invisible Dog Art Center) are tied together with three newly-commissioned iterations of an audio-visual Ambient Experience, Turntable Drawings, by composer Danny Clay and San Francisco-based visual artist Jon Fischer.
Piano Pioneers features pianists Vicky Chow (Bang on a Can All-Stars), Adam Tendler (Lincoln Center Award for Emerging Artists, 2019), and Kathleen Supové (The Exploding Piano) offer their unique perspectives on the possibilities offered by this most traditional of classical instruments, performing works by Fjola Evans, Adam Basanta, Frederic Rzewski, Mauricio Kagel, Nicole Lizée, Athau Tanala, and Rahilia Hasanova.
Reservations for all events (highly recommended) open on March 23. Please visit lookandlisten.org to RSVP.
