About
For 40 years londonprintstudio has supported printmaking in England, establishing the best equipped artists print space in London. This year's londonprintstudio members Summer Show offers snapshot of fine art contemporary printmaking in London. The show features work across the full range of print techniques, with etching particularly well represented. There is work by well established and
emerging artists. As the studio is run by artists for artists, there is work by some of the studio staff.
Most of the works in the show are on sale, providing a chance to buy some original art while supporting both the artists and the studio involved in producing the works. Studio membership is very varied with many younger printmakers working alongside well established names. With work by 50 artists on display, there's something for everyone, and some spectacular prints. Some work in the exhibition has been created through the use of highly experimental techniques. The works on display reflect the sense of enquiry and exploration characteristic of the work of many of our members. This approach is strongly supported and encouraged by the studio and its technicians.
Among the works on view are 'Battersea Power Station' by Nicola Styan - an image of an historic building that is being transformed in use, while Michelle Dow's digital print 'Gone' also deals with change and transformation. In Use : Abuse, emerging artist Gloria Ceballos uses the metaphor of fragility and her personal experience in the presence of Nature. Chisato Tamabayashi, a longstanding studio member, launches her cut out artist's book 'Follow' with an exquisite reflection on adventures with sheepdogs.
