AboutThis culturally significant style celebrated beauty for beauty's sake and spanned the boom of the roaring 1920s and the bust of the Depression-ridden 1930â²s. It was an age of unbelievable wealth, glamour, freedom and decadence where not only artistic but also individual expression broke new ground. However, it was also a time of great social upheaval as millions lived in poverty and/or faced persecution on social, political, religious and ethnic grounds. Thus, many parallels can be drawn between this period and today.
The spirit of the lifestyle that this ethos encapsulated, serves as an escape from the current economic climate, just as it did in the 1930's during The Great Depression.
