This culturally significant style celebrated beauty for beauty's sake and spanned the boom of the roaring 1920s and the bust of the Depression-ridden 1930”²s. It was an age of unbelievable wealth, glamour, freedom and decadence where not only artistic but also individual expression broke new ground. However, it was also a time of great social upheaval as millions lived in poverty and/or faced persecution on social, political, religious and ethnic grounds. Thus, many parallels can be drawn between this period and today. The spirit of the lifestyle that this ethos encapsulated, serves as an escape from the current economic climate, just as it did in the 1930's during The Great Depression. Whether you draw your own inspiration from the Art Deco period through architecture, fashion, interior design, literature, cinema, music, dance or social commentary — the ‘London Life Photography Competition' aims to present an exhibition that captures the current age of austerity & decadence in all its forms. We are looking for dynamic, exquisite, challenging & creative images to be included in an exhibition in Summer 2014. The Prizes: All finalists will be featured in the exhibition this Summer. 1st Prize: 6 months representation with L A Noble Gallery and mentoring with Laura Noble. Consultation & printing of your gallery portfolio, with a master printer. 2nd & 3rd Prize: A two hour Portfolio Review with Gallery Director Laura Noble. Featured prominently in the exhibition. An annual National Art Pass valid for one year. Fee: £25 for up to 4 images.
