About
London’s major new design event takes over Somerset House this September, presenting newly commissioned works that explore the theme utopia by design. Taking over the entirety of Somerset House, including The Edmond J. Safra Fountain Court and River Terrace, the London Design Biennale will explore big questions and ideas about sustainability, migration, pollution, energy, cities, and social equality. You will see engaging and interactive installations, innovations, artworks and proposed design solutions - all in an immersive, inspiring and entertaining tour of the world. See monumental installations in indoor and outdoor spaces throughout the building from some of the world’s best designers, representing thirty five countries including Austria, Israel, South Africa, Albania, the UK and USA. Barber & Osgerby will be designing the UK installation, curated by the V&A and supported by British Land. Their installation Forecast, moves with the wind, evoking the UK's nautical history and its future use of renewable energy.
