Both artists have an expert eye for composition and colour but take very different approaches to printmaking. The exhibition is a great opportunity to see their work together and explore their complimentary yet contrasting styles.
For Arts Sake, an Ealing based art gallery specialising in contemporary prints, presents a joint exhibition by leading London printmakers Gail Brodholt and Louise Davies. As well as sharing a studio together these two women also share a passion for capturing the urban landscape. This is the London that you pass through; the everyday of train stations, street corners and famous landscapes glimpsed in the background.
“London can sometimes be associated with grey skies and the relentless slog of the daily commute. This exhibition certainly challenges that view! Colour bursts out of these prints and you find yourself falling in love with London again.” says Brian Davis, owner of For Arts Sake. “Both of these leading London printmakers capture the capital in all its vibrancy along with exploring landscapes further afield. We are delighted to be showing their work in our Ealing gallery and continuing our aim of bringing the best in contemporary printmaking to West London.”
In the exhibition, both artists combined will present over 80 prints with a focus on recent work. The exhibition opens Friday 5th June and runs until Sunday 5th July 2015. There is also an opportunity to win a print either by Gil Brodholt or Louise Davis on the Gallery Facebook page.
