About
Off the Wall, the premier, modern contemporary art gallery in Cardiff, has successfully beat off several challengers to exclusively host the next collection of paintings by the international âPicasso' sensation, Hamad Al Humaidhan, (Hamad).
The young 12-year-old artist, who originates from Kuwait, has caused significant waves in the art world, and has already been likened to the great Spanish genius, Pablo Picasso. Incredibly, Hamad had never seen the work of the Spanish master before he put brush to canvas.
In a recent Sunday Times article, critics have said of the works of Hamad;
âTheir compositions are, for a child, precociously sophisticated; their patterns appealing and their colours harmonious'.
After three sell out collections, and being commissioned to design and create the âBirthday Card' in celebration of the 180th Birthday of Covent Garden, world art lovers have keenly awaited Hamad's next collection, which will comprise of 6 original paintings.
âYoung talent like this is very rare. We believe that Hamad is an exceptional talent and we are proud to be able to host this young artist's next collection' says Marlene Outrim, Director of the Off the Wall. âWe would like to invite everyone to experience the work of this young genius'.
Hamad now lives in Bath with his father, mother and 3 siblings.
Waleed Al Humaidhan, Hamad's father, (38 yrs) said: 'Hamad had never even seen a Picasso when he started painting like this - it was incredible. I paint myself so I instantly saw the similarities. Once I realised how good I believed Hamad was, I rushed out to buy more canvases and acrylics. We are all so proud of him and what he has already achieved.'
Hamad's manager, Steve Turner added: 'When I saw Hamad's work I was amazed at how complex it was and that the shades and hues were so incredible. The reaction we have received from people has been quite extraordinary'.
'When I've got a blank canvas in front of me I just close my eyes, imagine what I want to be on it, then open my eyes and paint it'. Hamad.
