An evening of poetry at CAST
About
Prize-winning poets Alyson Hallett, Penelope Shuttle and Katrina Naomi present an evening of poetry relating to place.
Alyson and Penelope have recently published LZRD (Indigo Dreams Publishing Ltd, 2019), a collaborative venture drawing on the culture of the Lizard Peninsula in Cornwall. Katrina has recently returned from Japan, where she wrote Typhoon Etiquette (VERVE poetry press, 2019), during an Arts Council-funded writing project, walking in Basho’s footsteps
Following a selection of readings, there will be time for discussion about how poets write about journeying, and what as a writer you leave behind.
Alyson Hallett is a former Charles Causley Trust writer-in-residence and her poetry has been shortlisted for the Michael Marks Award. Penelope Shuttle has published twelve collections of poetry, and her work has been shortlisted for the T.S. Eliot prize. Katrina Naomi’s poetry has been shortlisted for the Forward Prizes for Poetry and she received a BBC commission in 2018 for National Poetry Day.
Free admission, all welcome. CAST Café food from 6pm, something hot and something sweet from £7.50. The event will begin at 7pm.
