Explore the mystical and the medieval through the works of contemporary artists
About
Little Omens is about searching for a sign or direction, whether in nature or in the past, to keep hope alive in what seems like a return of Dark Ages.
We are living in confusing times of abundance and famine, war and globalisation, oversharing and disinformation, knowledge and natural destruction. Symptoms of eschatology, a sense of impending doom. The woods are wild, the wolves are circling, the birds soaring. The humans are feeble and sinful.
We crave something simpler. A fragile charm, an attractive naivety. The mystical and magic encapsulated in a feather. And as we regress in the dark, the flame consuming the matchstick is a blinding furnace. A promise of salvation.
Little Omens will showcase artworks in a variety of mediums by contemporary artists - including Joseph Dupré, Daisy Tortuga and Pauline Mauruschat. These artists all borrow from medieval aesthetics, giving a sense of timelessness to the exhibition.
