LISA SCANTLEBURY
Lisa Scantlebury is a visual artist who works with sculpture and print and is also co-director of Plenderleith Scantlebury – fabricators of fine art and design based at Spike Island, Bristol.
Her artwork falls into two categories: sculptural installations which include constructed objects, print and found objects made for gallery exhibitions, and temporary works for commissions in the public realm.
Scantlebury studied BA Ceramics at University of Wales Institute, Cardiff. She teaches pottery and works in clay with a focus on the form and function of pottery, and is currently writing a critical exploration of clay titled A jug to put on my back, inspired by the work of Czech graphic artist Nadežda Plíšková.
In her business, Scantlebury connects artists with art production: providing consultation on the development of their ideas through sharing her knowledge and experience, and also realising artists’ works in vastly varied materials.
Lisa Scantlebury has received awards from Arts Council England for solo exhibitions at Walcot Chapel, Bath and Station Gallery, Bristol and has participated in artist residencies at HIAP Residency in Helsinki and the Gyumri Biennial, Armenia and a number of group shows including LOCWS International, Swansea, Fringe Arts Bath with All Day Breakfast, ROOM London and Kosar Contemporary, Bristol. Scantlebury presents two sculptures at RWA sculpture, Bristol (2019).
