Working primarily in sculptural installation, Lauren Gault’s practice employs a variety of materials - selected for not only their physical properties, but also their specific histories. Previous works have been composed of handmade, found, and natural elements. Working in response to a given space, the resulting multi-part works are made after periods of significant research. Recent investigations have explored subjects as diverse as divining, cetacean strandings, trepanation, phosphorescence, and theories around the ‘vessel’ as object.
Gault will create an ambitious temporary outdoor sculptural installation, incorporating sound as well as live elements.
