About
LINOCUT WORKSHOP | SATURDAY 9TH APRIL | 12PM-3PM | 22£
This workshop led by London based artist Beatriz Fernandes will give you an introduction on the Linocut printing process. Linocut is a printmaking technique which allows you to print a design on a great variety of surfaces without the use of a press. It was first used as a cheaper alternative to Woodcut by the German expressionist artists of Die Brücke between 1905 and 1913.
In this one-off class you will learn the main concepts of the Linocut method. Starting with the creation of your own design, you will be guided step by step until the final handprint of the lino sheet onto a series of postcards. By the end of the session you will be confident enough to start experimenting and developing this technique by yourself.
Here is a quick guide on what you will learn on this workshop:
- How to use the materials for linocut printing.
- Which designs better fit in this technique and how to transfer them.
- How to safely carve a lino sheet with different kinds of lino cutters.
- How to handprint your own edition of postcards.
There will be a coffee break during the three hour session. All materials are available but feel free to bring along any inspirational materials such as postcards, drawings or photos.
The workshop is suitable for individuals and families of all ages (children should be accompanied at all times). Ideal for beginners.
Price: 22£. For bookings or any other questions, please contact beatriz@roomone.com
