Linger is a group exhibition of works by eight artists from Iceland and the UK, which focuses on art as a process and its inner logic to connect, not only to us, the viewer, but also to its surroundings.
About
Linger is when we tend to stay longer because of a reluctance to leave. That reluctance is often driven by a wistful longing, even though we don’t necessarily know why and what it is that we long for. What we know is that we must linger.
The exhibition poses several questions about what happens when we are confronted with works that demand that we engage and be affected. Works that in their innocence and intimate situation are risk-taking. The artists then use different means and techniques to approach these questions.
The exhibition is curated by Birgir Snæbjörn Birgisson and Mika Hannula. It is accompanied by the publication Linger: Passion for the Possible, which includes essays and conversations with the participating artists by Mika Hannula and is available to purchase from the gallery.
This will be the second version of the exhibition, which was at Hafnarborg – the Hafnarfjörður Centre of Culture and Fine Art, Iceland, from 21 Feb – 18 May 2025.
