Lindy Annis, who was recently awarded the Ruhr-Universität Bochum Art Prize for her large installation "Simple Souls", presents new works from her long-standing project "The Body Archive", which is dedicated to the artistic discovery of expressive emotional body gestures.

About

Under the title "The Swarm" Annis is showing her latest installation at Berlin Art Week: hundreds of floating paper sculptures resembling small human bodies, made from advertising brochures. Each of these bizarre figures, formed from colored paper and sewing threads, is unique in its way and performs multiple randomly inspired twists in all directions. In the interplay of light and shadow and the alternation of perspectives, these graceful miniature bodies provide the viewer with ever new insights and result in a magical, dance-like composition. The
countless small sculptures are accompanied by two huge, almost three meter
high floating "Big Figures", as well as a group of striding and dancing individual sculptures, the "Standing Striding Figures" and a series of sheets, the "Paper Pictures"
