Join outstanding artist Gordon Scott for this fantastic 4 day oil painting course, in the heart of the Peak District at Bullclough Art School.

About

Join incredible artist Gordon Scott for this fantastic 4 day oil painting course. Light within painting is an incredible aspect of art skill. It can have the potential to create vivid and stunning art. This course is designed to help the student approach and develop the skill and insight to have direct source illumination within the picture. Sunlight inspired by the master tradition of JWM Turner and candlelight inspired by the master Georges de la Tour come to life as you tackle this most exotic and exciting element in painting.

Day 1 Gordon will give a masterclass of his demonstration techniques  and first introduction to the theme. Drawing with charcoal, pencil or pastel you will have the opportunity to create your first forays into the exploration of light.

Day 2 Oil painting and the study of still life with candlelight. Method and practise in observing the richness and dynamic of contrast in your work.

Day 3 Oil painting in landscape where sunlight provides the entertainment in building a relationship with this intense source of life creating contrast and pattern on trees and hillside.

Day 4 A further effort into refining you drawings and paintings and deepening your experience of how artificial lighting can produce strong colour and abstract shadows.

All levels are welcome, as Gordon will be giving one to one tution as well as group work.

Welcome to Bullclough School of Art,  a spectacular meeting place and retreat for aspiring and established artists.  Combining a deep connection between the tools and techniques of art, together with the flair and passion of creativity, the Bullclough experience is truly inspirational for everyone who studies here.

Bullclough School of Art is the latest venture by Nellie Shepherd, whose pioneering London art classes and creative books introduced thousands of people to the joys of all forms of art. Bullclough is located in the dramatic landscape of the Peak District, with deep valleys carved into the rolling limestone hills. The white peak area has inspired artists for generations, and under the tutelage and mentorship of practicing artists we aim to continue that tradition. Whether you attend a short course, a masterclass or a full workshop, you are guaranteed the very best instruction by recognised artists, who are well established in the art world and eager to share their skills and experience.

NOTE:

We also sometimes combine yoga/pilates within our programs or as an optional extra and we are lucky enough to have our very own resident yoga teacher on hand for private sessions.
