Create your own figure sculpture! Observe a life model, make a metal armature and sculpt onto it in plaster.
This workshop is ideal for beginners but suitable for all abilities.
Please note that the model will be a life model, meaning they will be nude or partially-clothed.
David was educated at Birmingham College of Art, gaining an NDD in Graphic Design, and later the ATD (Art Teachers Diploma) and the DAE (Diploma in Art Education). Although retired, David teaches A-Level life drawing. For mature students he has run Portrait drawing classes at the Barber Institute of Fine Art and adult workshops for art societies throughout the Midlands. At ‘The Place Activity Centre’, Nottingham, David has run life sculpture workshops. He has been part of a team, based at Wolverhampton Art Gallery, delivering ‘The Drawing Project’ to GCSE pupils. His works are exhibited in the permanent collection of the RBSA, Birmingham University, Derby Museum and Art Gallery and The Edge art Centre. His paintings have been shown in France and various opens including; Stafford, Derby, Stoke and Keele three counties. His life drawings have appeared in group shows in; Gallery 27 Cork Street, Doncaster Art Gallery, the Granary Gallery Weston Park, and studies of glass at Wolverhampton Art Gallery. His portrait studies will be shown at The Foxlowe Art Centre, Leek, July to August 2017. At the Silk Mill, Derby Museum, David has exhibited his drawings of the museum’s collection of masks, and in the Natural History Gallery, his studies of Skeletons. In 2003 David was elected an Associate of the RBSA and as a full member in 2006.

Places are limited to 10 students per workshop. Allocation will take place on a first come first served basis, subject to receipt of full non-transferable and non-refundable payment.
The RBSA Gallery reserves the right to withdraw the course. In this eventuality, you will be notified and fully refunded.
