Jessica Albarn works with nature, exploring how we as human beings project onto and identify with the natural world; a relationship that in our modern times has become increasingly dislocated and disconnected.

About

For her exhibition at Jealous, Jessica will be further exploring the idea of the meadow; how it is symbolic to us as a place of peace and serenity, and where life is played out in all its beauty and brutality. She will be showing her second short film/installation with sounds by Nick Powell (musician, composer and sound designer). It will include live footage and sound recordings taken from the meadow that Jessica has been developing in Devon for the last 3 years.

This project began not only as place to research the life that grows there, but also to support the conservation of the area - for two species of bee in particular: The Shrill Carder and the Bilberry Bumblebee.  Jessica has worked alongside the BBCT (Bumblebee Conservation Trust) to raise awareness for the plight of the bee through her work for many years.

Alongside the film she will be showing work which plays with the idea of surface and layers, using honey and glass, as well as her drawings - for which she is best known.
