About

Quantum Ghost is the first UK solo exhibition by Bristol-based artist Libita Clayton, mapping a journey through archives and territories related to her family history. The show excavates the personal archives left by the artist’s father, a supporter of the former independence movement in Namibia who studied mining in Cornwall during the 1980s. Rooted in these sites of memory and testimony, the exhibition comprises a multi-channel sound installation, a series of photograms and a large-scale tunnel sculpture that explore the subterranean echoes, geological strata and historical undercurrents connecting the mining regions of Namibia and Cornwall. The sound work is the outcome of a collaboration with artists and musicians Demelza Toy Toy, Jol Thomson and Hannah Catherine Jones.
