Lexicon brings together new work from six artists who graduated from Camberwell College of Arts between 1993 and 2006. The title of show is taken from a term that Caroline Rothwell, one of the six artists, uses to categorize her work. In this show Lexicon describes the range of processes and working methods the artists make use of in order to articulate a range of ideas: the vocabulary of producing art and the way ideas manifest themselves through the working process.
Recurring themes and crossovers emerge. Ideas of corruption, subversion and interrogation surface in the diverse range of work. Having all studied at Camberwell the six artists have gone on to develop their practices in a variety of media including painting, photography, drawing, sculpture and installation. Their work embodies a sense of rigorous enquiry an analysis of the world and the possibilities for making work.
