To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Calligraphy & Lettering Arts Society, this exhibition shows new work by national and international lettering artists.

The exhibition will travel to four venues around the UK to showcase the varied talents of contemporary calligraphers.  No prior booking is necessary.

We are celebrating the tangible, the analogue, the tactile skills of using pens, inks, paints, brushes or other tools.  Scientific studies have proved that the physical act of writing by hand results in a closer understanding and involvement with content.  This comes as no surprise to lettering artists, who take deep pleasure in creating something beautiful by hand from words, in varying degrees of precision or abstraction.  

We hope that visitors will enjoy seeing the work on display, as so much can be gained from looking at artwork in real life to appreciate the skills of letters hand made.
