LET ME NOT INTRODUCE MYSELF.THE PLEASURE IS YOURS

About

LET ME NOT INTRODUCE MYSELF.THE PLEASURE IS YOURS is a major solo exhibition of photography and installation works by Spanish artist Coco Capitán. The show invites visitors to engage with the artist naive personality through six series of self-portraits with different topics that act almost as story tales. The exhibition space is filled with almost-obsessive handwriting and objects that seem directly thrown out of the photographic frame. The title of the show LET ME NOT INTRODUCE MYSELF.THE PLEASURE IS YOURS plays on the irony of Capitan's works and act as a reminder for the viewer of the effectiveness of a picture as a self-explanatory medium. About the Artist: Coco Capitán is a young artist specifically exploring and working in the photographic field. Born in 1992 in Seville, in the South of Spain, she moved to London at age 17 to study and work. Recently graduated from University of Arts of London, she is now studying at Royal College of Art. Her photographic approach directly reflects and re-elaborates the paradoxically complicated simplicity of her favourite everyday actions such as a morning swim or long walks with no precise destination. Her ability to narrate those naà ¯ve yet intricate stories brought her to work with different clients, publications and institutions over the last 5 years such as the French house Maison Martin Margiela or the very British Fred Perry, in the fashion industry; the Rihimaki Museum in Helsinki; the 798 Art District in Beijing; die ZEIT, Dazed & Confuse or Metal… to name some. She is currently curating the Spanish artists residency Es Roquissar.
