Works by Leonard Rosoman from his private collection
About
Browse & Darby is delighted to announce an exhibition of works by the late Leonard Rosoman RA. The exhibition will feature paintings and works on paper from the artist’s private collection, including significant works from his celebrated A Patriot For Me series, fifty years after they were first shown at the gallery.
Rosoman was an English artist and illustrator. He taught at Edinburgh College of Art, Chelsea School of Art and the Royal College of Art, where David Hockney was amongst his students. His paintings are notable for their taught composition and dramatic perspective. Rosoman also undertook many mural commissions during his lifetime, including the ceiling of Lambeth Palace and the restaurant of the Royal Academy at Burlington House.
As well as the works from A Patriot For Me, the exhibition includes portraits of the artist and his circle of friends and associates, providing an introduction not just to the artist’s oeuvre but also to his life and times.
