Where do works of performance art begin and end? How do they live on as archive in the context of exhibitions? What were performances in socialist Eastern Europe?
About
Did they perhaps offer a more liberated space for artistic expression, political critic or nonconformist social behavior? The exhibition features action art in Eastern Europe as it zooms in on a handful of selected topics, including the bold questioning of gender norms and boundaries, the challenging of ruling governments from a genuinely leftist perspective, the retrospective construction of canonic oeuvres or artist-heroes, and alternative approaches to archival concepts.nGbK project group: Judit Bodor, Adam Czirak, Astrid Hackel, Beata Hock, Andrej Mircev, Angelika Richter
