'Layered Voyeurism' is a collection of photographs from intimacies to validation.
Bio: Nehemias Colindres was born and raised in Los Angeles. A 1st generation Salvadorian-American, Colindres and his family frequently moved throughout the city, in-between a number of diverse neighbourhoods. The experience of being exposed to a rich cultural childhood played a major influence on his artistic sensibilities.
Colindres studied film at Brooks Institute of Photography where he wrote and directed “Jornada Al Norte,” which was an official selection for both The Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival and The Silverlake Film Festival. It was heavily praised for it’s poignant view on immigration.
In the fall of 2011, Colindres packed up his reel, moved to Berlin and for the past several years has been directing commercials for clients around the globe.
His exploration of film naturally lead to photography. Colindres' voyeuristic manner of documenting others and his surroundings continued to manifest into the works that he continues to create.
Recently, he finished a short film, “JUNG,” which gives insight to the Turkish youth culture of Berlin. It was awarded with a Special Jury mention at Huesca Film Festival and also selected for main competition at Odense Film Festival as well as Interfilm Festival.
His latest film "STEVE" explores the early stages of a person coming out as transgender.
