LAVA Collective Return To The Rag Factory

About

On Thursday, 3rd November, we're heading back to The Rag Factory to take part in Time Out's 'First Thursdays' programme. This former textile factory is situated just off Brick Lane on Heneage Street. It is one of our favourite exhibition spaces, in the past we've put on shows there with Bruno 9li, Ashes57, Stik and Jo Peel. On this occasion we have put together a group show featuring past collaborators alongside new friends. Ashes57, Stik, The Krah and Otto Schade have established themselves as firm favourites with our crowd. All 4 had buzzing solo shows at LAVA Gallery earlier in the year and we're looking forward to hooking up with them again. Earlier this year we invited Emma Dexter to take part in our 'House of Dub' project at Outlook Festival. She created an eye-popping optical illusion, in which a single speaker is reflected multiple times to create a floating globe effect. It's an amazing piece, everyone loved it in Croatia and we're looking forward to recreating it in London. We also invited Forged Signatures to Outlook, and they impressed us with their vision and skill. They are creating a new installation for The Rag Factory, in collaboration with Ashes57. Lucas has caught our eye recently with his vibrant, fun packed street art. Whether working solo or in unison with Malarky and Mr Penfold, Lucas creates brilliant, bold characters and we are excited to be working with him for the first time. Last but not least, we welcome the notorious Neas to showcase his new studio work. We'll be releasing 3 new screen prints at the show, by Ashes57, Forged Signatures and Lucas. Each print will be an addition of 25, signed and numbered by the artist. Across the courtyard, our friends Eska and Pikto are hosting a charity auction, in aid of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. They invited some of the best graffers in town to paint at Art Splash, which took place a couple of months ago. Now they are selling the pieces that were painted that day, to raise money for their chosen charity. This is a great opportunity to purchase some stunning, large-scale pieces, so come and grab yourself a bargain. We hope you can make it down to the opening party on Thursday, 3rd November 2011. All the artists will be in attendance, and they'll be booze and good music as per usual. We're open from 6-10pm that evening, then from 12-7pm over the weekend.
