About
Exploring representation, Laura’s work challenges the historical sexualisation of the female body within Art.
Rather than aspiring for an exact portrayal of human anatomy Laura has deconstructed the female body into core shapes, removing distracting details to depict emotion through form and posture. She has been inspired by Matisse’s conveyance of emotion in Blue Nudes and his mastery of human forms, that look beyond surface beauty.
