Laura Ford (b. 1961) is recognised internationally as one of the UK’s leading sculptors. Her solo show will be the first exhibition of contemporary art at Strawberry Hill and is being curated by Stephen Feeke, Director of Roche Court. They will discuss the opening of this event and the art Ford creates.
About
Influenced by Surrealism and filmmakers such as Jean Cocteau and David Lynch, Ford’s often figurative work strongly references childhood with a melancholic, sometimes dark undertone. She is well-known for her portrayals of animals, with which she explores aspects of the human condition.
This event will take place as an exhibition of her work opens at Strawberry Hill House which will combine existing works and new works made in response to the unique setting it offers. The exhibition will be accompanied by a specially-commissioned book by Dr Judy Collins.
